WHAT SUCCESS REALLY MEANS
If money determined success, then he is our most successful horse to date.
But the money is only part of this story. We learned valuable lessons, met good people and positioned ourselves differently for the future. The connection we made with Eric Foster—and the trust that grew from it—may prove to be worth more than anything on the sales sheet.
We were 25% partners with Eric. Together, we bought this colt for $40,000 at the 2025 Keeneland September Yearling Sale and sold him for $185,000 at the 2026 OBS March Sale.
A DISAPPOINTMENT THAT OPENED A DOOR
Everything happens
for a reason.
As disappointed as we were with Bernie White Socks, I believe everything happens for a reason. Bernie did not develop the way we first thought he would, but that experience connected us with Eric Foster.
That relationship more than made up for anything we felt we had lost. When I returned to Keeneland in 2025, I was not just going back to shop for another horse. I was going with a new friend and a horseman whose opinion I had learned to trust.
THE REAL RETURNOne horse did not work out as planned. The relationship that came from him changed what became possible next.

The horse who passed
the eye test.
I was looking at horses with my friend Wilson Colindres when we ran into Eric. I ran several horses by him. There were a few he kept me from buying, and a few others we liked but got outbid on.
Very late in the sale, Wilson spotted a colt by Global Campaign out of a City Zip mare. He passed the eye test immediately. Eric agreed that he looked like a great prospect.
OUR LIMIT
$40KThe bidding became hectic right at our limit. When the hammer fell, we were not even sure we had him.

When they brought the ticket over to Eric, we were all ecstatic. Then we saw the colt up close—and somehow, we were even more impressed.
THE TICKET WAS OURS

and heading to the farm.
The bidding was over. Hip 4660 had his “New Winner” sticker, and the next chapter had already begun.

A LITTLE R & R
Time at Eric’s farm
before Ocala.
Before the serious work began, he had time to settle in, stretch his legs and just be a horse. Then it was time to head south and find out what kind of prospect we had bought.

THE EARLY DAYS IN OCALA
Learning the job.
Giving us reasons to believe.
We sent him to Omar Ramirez in Ocala to begin his education. The plan was to prepare him for a two-year-old sale, watch how he developed and then decide in the spring whether to keep him or sell him.
From early on, the reports kept coming back that he was a “good horse.” He still had a long way to go, but every new video made it a little harder to keep our hopes from getting too high.

THE BREEZE
He did not disappoint.
At OBS March, he worked two furlongs in :20.3—one of the fastest times at the sale—and earned a mention in BloodHorse. Eric tried not to let everyone’s hopes get too high, but by then our hopes were already up.

NOTICED BY BLOODHORSEHip 782 was singled out after the breeze: a Global Campaign colt out of the winning City Zip mare Full of Zip, consigned by Omar Ramirez Bloodstock.
THE HARD DECISION
We really did not
want to sell him.
Eric gave us advice that made sense. If we wanted to keep doing this, we could not become known for keeping the horses we liked and only selling the ones we did not. Buyers needed to know that when we brought a horse to market, we were willing to sell a good one.
So we left him in the auction and set what we believed was a fair reserve of $150,000. When the hammer fell, our $40,000 yearling had brought $185,000.

“The sale price made him our biggest financial success. The people, lessons and opportunity made the journey mean even more.”
SEPTEMBER 11, 2026 · TA’IF, SAUDI ARABIA
His next chapter
began with a win.
Sold at OBS as Hip 782, our Global Campaign colt is now racing as Ashaaq. In his first trip to the starting gate, he won Race 4 over 1,600 meters in Saudi Arabia.
He stopped the clock in 1:40.5 and finished well clear of the field. We were proud when the hammer fell at $185,000. Watching him prove himself on the racetrack meant even more.

“The sale made him our biggest financial success. His first race made the story even sweeter.”
